Shedding For The Wedding is a new reality competition series where overweight engaged couples compete to lose the most weight to win their dream wedding.
With Host Sara Rue, A-list wedding planner Brian Worley, celebrity nutritionist Ashley Koff, and top trainers Nicky Holender and Jennifer Cohen, 9 Couples from all walks of life come to Los Angeles to compete for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity: to say "I do" at the wedding of their dreams.
The Couples will undergo dramatic physical and emotional transformations as they change their lifestyles and eating habits, and endure hours of grueling workouts.
Their unique character and back-stories reflect in each and every Couple's wedding themes*. Each week, they will put together one element of their dream wedding – the dress, the tux, the cake, the flowers… and so much more. These elements become the very prizes that the Couples compete for in dramatic Challenges that reveal their ability to communicate and work as a team, while exposing every strength and flaw in their relationship.
The true test of their sweat and sacrifice comes down to the numbers on the scale because at the end of each week, the Couples weigh in. The Couples who lose the most weight are safe from elimination. But the bottom two Couples who have lost the least amount of weight must face our "'TIL DEATH DO US PART" final elimination challenge. It will test their mental and physical stamina beyond anything they have faced before.
In the Shedding For The Wedding finale, the first seven eliminated Couples return for one more weigh-in. The Couple that has continued to lose the most weight at home on their own… will win their Fantasy Honeymoon.
And then, our final two Couples face off for one last weigh in. Both Couples have had their relationships put to the test. But which Couple has the strength and the discipline to lose the most weight to win their dream wedding? This is Shedding For The Wedding.
*Wedding Themes
- BEACH ROMANCE: Ginny & Marc want a gorgeous and elegant beach wedding because they are from Long Island and love the ocean, jet skiing, and New York summers.
- BIG BAND: Valerie & Dave love music and want their wedding theme to have all the elegance and glamour from the jazz era.
- ECO-LOVERS: Samantha & Brooks want to begin their married life "green" by having all elements of their wedding be environmentally friendly.
- FAIRY TALE: Allison & David want a traditional, classic, fairytale "Midsummer Night's Dream" wedding complete with Allison's 5 year old daughter in a gorgeous dress and fairy tale wings.
- FOOTBALL: Laura & Austin are giant football fans (he loves the Green Bay Packers, and she loves the Chicago Bears) and want fun football themes throughout their wedding.
- FUN & GAMES: Dawn & Adam are board game buffs and have more than 500 in their collection. Their wedding will be filled with fun imagery and exciting games.
- GAMERS: Taylor & Peter met online playing Final Fantasy 4 and want video gaming type themes throughout their wedding.
- GREEK WEEK: Lindsey & Chase met at a frat party (she was a sorority sister and he was a frat brother). They want lots of frat fun at their wedding such as beer pong!
- HOLLYWOOD: Laeresa & Stephen want ritzy Hollywood glamour at their wedding complete with red carpet paparazzi greeting the guests!
